The Magnificent North

The Magnificent North is the empire located North of the Meridian Empire. It was first ruled by Wolfric and Honora Valor. Centuries later, it was ruled by Apollo Acadian, the crown prince. The capital city is Valorfell.

Description[]

The North is a place where there is "no difference between fairytales and history."[1] Fairytales and history are considered one and the same in the North because their stories and histories were all cursed. It is said that every Northern tale started out as true history, but because of the Northern story curse, over time the tales became twisted until only a little truth remained.[2]

There are special kinds of magic that only exist in the North. Some kinds of magic don't allow memories of it to pass to the South. There are unique creatures in the North, as well, including pastry goblins that drop off sweets on holidays, and pet-size dragons that turn to smoke if they try to fly South. Fashion is also quite different from The Meridian Empire. Men wear doublets and lots of leather, while women wear gowns with double skirts and ornamental belts.

After being released from the Deck of Destiny and the Week of Terror, many of the Fates are given asylum in the North.

There are five different types of castles in the North: the fortress castle, the enchanted castle, the haunted castle, the ruined castle, and the storybook castle.
