But she didn't want anyone's heart, she wanted adventure. So, she answered a call to steal something incredibly valuable, a cursed deck of cards. This deck of cards contained the Fates from when the witch Esmeralda banished them from the world. Tella realizes that this means the deck of tarot cards she found when she was younger was actually the real Deck of Destiny that contained the trapped Fates. Apparently, whatever repellent the witch had placed on the cards had faded enough to allow Tella near them. Paloma left to protect Tella and Scarlett from the evil in the deck. She hoped to find a way to destroy them.
Tella later learns that Paloma had been unable to return to her daughters because she was trapped in the Deck of Destiny. Tella manages to free Paloma by freeing the entire deck of Fates. However, Paloma is in a coma.
