Once Upon a Broken Heart (series)

Once Upon a Broken Heart is a series of three books written by Stephanie Garber. They take place in the Caraval universe with a new set of characters and new settings.

Evangeline Fox is the protagonist of this series, with Jacks (Prince of Hearts) a main character. Evangeline goes to him for help at the beginning of the first book, and subsequently upheaves her own life with a series of events connected to him.

• Stephanie Garber on where she got the idea for Once Upon a Broken Heart: "The truth is there was a fairytale that I really wanted to add murder to. I thought it would be fun to have a girl solve a murder while falling for someone with she suspected might actually be responsible for the murder...".
• The series was initially marketed as a duology. Later on, the author said there might be a third book, which was confirmed after the release of The Ballad of Never After to be the final installment.
