La Serpiente de Cristal, also known as The Glass Serpent, is one of the hotels in which the players of Caraval stay for the duration of the game. Players that arrive too late on the first day are locked out of the house and cannot participate.
Description[]
The hotel is has a searing green door with ivy clinging to its walls. The sign above the entrance is illuminated by two lanterns and is a white serpent coiled around a black cluster of grapes. A heavy bolt locks the door at dawn. To the right of the hotel is the Glass Tavern, which closes one hour after sunrise and opens one hour before sunset.
Upon entering the vestibule, a fire is glowing in the hearth and an olive-green desk takes up most of the low-ceilinged room. The room keys are made of glass with room numbers etched into them. Julian and Scarlett's rooms are upstairs and to the left in rooms eight and nine. Each hall has a bathroom and a tub room for washing. The room past the vestibule is the barroom. Jade lights come from emerald chandeliers which hang over tables of glass. It smells of stale beer.
The hotel's hallways are crooked. The rooms don't seem to be in any particular order and the doors are all different colors. Julian and Scarlett's rooms are on the fourth floor, which is covered in velvet paper striped with thick lines of black and cream. Scarlett's room, Room Eight, has a rounded door with a glass doorknob.
Inside her room there is a fire in the hearth and the walls are covered in a flowered wallpaper of white roses with ruby tips in various states of bloom. There is a massive canopy bed that is sheltered by gauzy drapes of white that hang from carved wooden posts. The bed is covered in silk pillows made of fluff and thickly quilted blankets tied with rich currant-red bows. A narrow door next to the wardrobe is camouflaged by the papered wall. It connects to Julian's room next door.
