Chaos is one of the lesser Fates, an immortal, and a vampire. He is the Lord of Spies and Assassins. He is also known as Castor Valor.
Appearance[]
Chaos is incredibly beautiful and enticing. His eyes are bottle green and brilliant, with slivers of gold. His skin is olive in color and flawless. He wears sinuous leather armor and a vicious, spiked, bronze helm that conceals his face, except for his eyes and cheekbones. The entire lower half of his face is covered, including his mouth. Chaos's helm is cursed and prevents him from biting anyone. He's been trapped in it for centuries. His voice is like "smoke and velvet, gritty and slightly hypnotic."[1] His symbol is a pair of gauntlets.
Personality[]
Chaos is quietly deadly, but has a seductive air around him. He is not afraid to manipulate people for his cause.

Once Upon a Broken Heart[]
Evangeline has two unexpected meetings with Chaos before formally getting to know him: before entering Apollo's party and while waiting to get into the bookstore to get a copy of The Archer and The Fox. He has a helm covering his face, baring only his eyes. Evangeline assumes him to be a member of the guard.
After the attempted murder of Evangeline and Apollo, Jacks decides that he and Evangeline need to visit Chaos. Jacks tells Evangeline that Chaos is as old as the North. He was also never trapped in the Deck of Destiny, but instead has been in the world all this time. He's spent his time collecting favors, people, and information. LaLa reveals he is a vampire.[2] His mouth is covered by a Helm because of his abominable bloodthirst.
Chaos lives in an expansive underground lair beneath a broad mausoleum in a graveyard on the outskirts of Valorfell. When Jacks and Evangeline arrive, one of Chaos's vampires opens the door. He attempts to turn them away, but Jacks says that Chaos owes Jacks an unforgiven debt. This grants them entry.
The Ballad of Never After[]
It is hinted that he helps Luc become the king after Apollo's alleged death.
When Evangeline is hurt by Apollo's arrows after they're put under a curse, Jacks takes him to Chaos' place and asks him to get her bitten in order to speed up her healing and save her life. He physically constraints Evangeline all night in order to prevent her from biting someone till dawn and reveals to her that he's helping Jack because he needs the Valoric Arch to be opened in order to remove his helm. He helps Evangeline and Jack throughout the book in finding the four stones required to open the arch.
After the four stones are found, he accompanies Evangeline to the library of the Wolf Hall where she opens the arch. She follows him inside to find out that the Valors, considered to be dead, were sealed in the arch and that he was Castor Valor, the son of the Valors and also the abomination that they created while trying to save him. His helm is removed and she realises he's the handsome stranger from her dreams. She couldn't stop looking at him, which fuels his lust and he drinks her blood, killing her.
Powers[]
As a vampire, he has the power of allure, which gives him power over those who look into his eyes. He makes people feel intrigued instead of frightened. He moves preternaturally fast.
